Mr Kjeld Binger, CEO of Airport International Group receiving Queen Alia International Airport's Level 3+ carbon neutral certificate in Tokyo. AIG has since been accredited to ACA Level 4+, with AFL's expert guidance and support.
AFL has been supporting Airport International Group in building a World Class carbon management programme since 2013. The programme is delivering significant cost savings in energy bills at Queen Alia which have exceeded $1.3m per annum since 2015.
AIG first accredited at Level 1 to the ACI Airports Carbon Accreditation Programme in 2013. Each year since the programme has been developed further, building high quality carbon management and stakeholder engagement programmes; in 2015 AIG moved up to a Level 2 accreditation, in 2016 to Level 3 and in 2018 to the Level 3+ (carbon neutral). Through further dedication and determination and with AFL's support AIG achieved Level 4+ in 2022.
As further commitment to its carbon management programme AIG has signed contracts on the construction of a new 4.8 MegaWatt solar farm at the airport which will deliver 12 g/Wh of electricity annually. Construction on the solar farm started in Feruary 2024 and it will be on stream in Q4.
